Creaming, in baking, is the technique of blending ingredients 鈥?usually granulated sugar 鈥?together with a solid fat like shortening or butter.





With a stand mixer or a hand held mixer or a whisk mix butter and sugar until color is light and mixture is fluffly.
Put the sugar and softened butter into a bowl and then use an electric mixer to beat them together until they are lighter in color and somewhat fluffy.
That simply means you beat the butter and sugar together until it's light and fluffy. Doing this incorporates air into your fat and yields a lighter product.
