I have Old recipe for maple fudge it calls for 3/4 of a cup of top milk or light cream?

in the recipe it says to use top milk or to use light cream.

now can i buy light cream or top milk in a store.

or what could i use as a substitute

there is another recipe next to it in the book that calls for heavy cream but that is differantI have Old recipe for maple fudge it calls for 3/4 of a cup of top milk or light cream?
will you please ask yourself why add milk . . .

Maybe to thin the thickening chocolate

the grade of milk adds body ( milk fats)

top milk; ; !! the cream from fresh milk that separates and rises to the 'top' = to heavy cream 卤

homogenizing prevents thisI have Old recipe for maple fudge it calls for 3/4 of a cup of top milk or light cream?
